Why HF Junior Hockey..?

Who with: Always led by a Hockey Fever Coach/Umpire. The coach/umpire will input into the game to develop team and individual play.

Where & When: All our summer Hockey Fever Junior sessions will run from 6-7pm on Sundays and Tuesday's at Cheltenham College, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham GL53 7LD, click here for a map.

Who is this suitable for: Players must be in Years 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 at school. Any level of player can attend this session but please get in touch if you’re not sure. Younger children will get the opportunity to play with children in older year groups, depending on ability, we look closely at this on a weekly basis. Younger children work on developing resilience and learn to apply different playing strategies, all the time practising passing and ball control. Older children will get the chance to develop leadership skills, work to get the best out of younger players, lead by example and practise choosing the right skills at the right time.

What will the sessions be like: We will run a warm-up for the whole group and then split players into different groups depending on ability to practice some skills before finishing the session with some game play. The coach/umpire on the pitch will ensure the players understand the Hockey Fever rules. They will support play encouraging the values of sporting behaviour, team spirit, fun and enjoyment at all times.
