We’ve been working with Richie for a number of years now, and I can honestly say his impact has been outstanding. Charlie first experienced his coaching at Hockey Fever camps when she was younger, and for the past couple of years has been training with him more regularly. My middle son, Jack, has also had several 1:1 sessions, and both of them have benefited hugely.

What really sets Richie apart is his ability to connect with each athlete as an individual. He takes the time to understand what motivates them, how they think about their hockey, and what they want to achieve. He builds strong relationships and develops a deep understanding of each player, what drives them, where they struggle, and how to help them progress.

His approach is incredibly well balanced. While the technical side is excellent, it’s his focus on mindset that really stands out for us. He has helped the kids understand complex situations from an early age, giving them tools and perspectives that have shaped how they approach both training and matches.

Richie isn’t afraid to stretch them, he pushes and tests them in a way that brings out their character, and then uses those moments to help them grow. That ability to challenge while still supporting is something I’ve found particularly valuable.

Thanks to Richie’s support and guidance, Charlie has gone on to achieve selection into the Talent Academy, as well as earning a place in the Dean Close 1st XI first team at U15, and beginning her journey into women’s hockey. Jack has also thrived, securing a sports scholarship to Dean Close.

As a parent, I also gain a lot from the sessions. They’re not just beneficial for the kids, but offer real insight into how they’re developing and how best to support them.

Charlie now plays in a club team coached by Richie, and he continues to be a significant and positive influence in her hockey journey. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
